006. [ RL with Haruhi and Michael-- it's sleuthing time ]

[ Michael and Nena had returned to Cross's house to search for anything that would help against akuma or help to figure out what had happened to him; they'd made their way to the study once Haruhi arrived and were standing outside the door ]

Let's break the door down!

[has her hands on her hips]

You'd think he'd be smart and protect it somehow.

[He pauses with his foot raised, about to kick the door down]

Uh, shit. Well don't rule him out yet. That bastard's probably rigged something to blow up as soon as we mess with it, so be careful.

Don't be a wuss, he knows I tried to get in before so he wouldn't do that. Now, on the count of three!

Just wait!

[takes out her sonic screwdriver and uses it to inspect the door]

Seems clear.

If you say so, kid.

[He gets into position again]

Ready? One...two...three!

[ Slams the door with her foot at the same time as Michael, and it bursts open. Inside is a bizarre collection of items; piles of papers and books with bottles of alcohol here and there, a piano with notes scribbled on, a large headless akuma shell, and sitting on a table a motionless Haro-golem hybrid that very closely resembles Nena's Haro. ]

[ pauses with her hands on her hips, staring around the room, eyes widening a bit when she sees the Haro ] Huh? I left him in my-- but that's not mine...

[examines the room with her sonic screwdriver looking for any signs of unusual readings]

What is this?

What the--

[He takes a look at the room again, as though something might have changed in the last five seconds, but no, it's still as weird as it was the first time.]

What a freak.

[He moves further into the room, making his way toward the desk where the Haro-golem is.]

Okay, any explanation as to what the fuck all this is could be used right about now.

He goes around fighting demons, he's going to have weird stuff in here! And some of it could be useful, so get to looking around!

[ goes over and picks up the Haro-golem, flipping it around to see how to activate it ]

A demon fighter should have weird stuff.

[reaches out to examine the piano and runs her fingers along the notes before hitting a low key and the sound resonates throughout the room]

Whatever.

[He sighs and starts to look through the papers on the desk, not really taking much care with the papers he's discarded. Seeing a half finished bottle of alcohol, he picks it up and takes a swig.]

Hmm, not bad. The bastard's got good taste.

[ smacks him on the shoulder before peering over at the papers ]

Don't drink on duty!

[ something catches her eye on one of the papers and she leans over to pick it up, reading out loud: ]

"What is Gundam?" Well, isn't it obvious?

[thinking to herself]

Probably not to him. He comes from the past, right? The technologies that make a Gundam work are probably completely new to him.

Couldn't he have just asked one of us?

[He dumps the pile of papers he just finished looking through on the desk and opens the top drawer.]

Err, what exactly are we looking for? It's not like he's just gonna leave a piece of paper on the desk saying Cross' Plans.

He could! You never know.

[ she finds the activation switch on the Haro and up pops a projected recording of Cross fighting akuma ]

See? We're making progress already!

We should search for anything and everything that says stuff about the Akuma! That would be our best clue.

Right.

[He thumbs through a couple more sheets of paper before pulling out a couple of sheets from the drawer.]

Well, there's a bunch of stuff here on the Akuma and shit. We can sort through it later on or something.

[ points to the large Akuma shell ]

That looks like the things in the video. Except more dead. That means it's one of them, right?

Of course. So he definitely knows how to fight them.

[To himself]

Obviously not well enough.

[He sits down heavily on the chair by the desk]

Do you think he's left, like, a list or something of all the worlds he visited? Or the worlds he was gonna visit? That'd be really helpful right about now.

You shut up! [ smacks again, and starts looking through more papers ]

There's all sorts of weird notes here... if there's a list, it's bound to be here somewhere.

[starts rifling really fast, looking excited]

And once we have the list we can go to all those worlds in the TARDIS and find him!

[Luckily for them, there's a loud clang and a hidden door opens. Cross barely makes it through, clothes torn. Maria appears by his side, as always. The corpse doll's hand on his face]

He was funny until he wrecked my clothes, then the bastard had to pay.

[saying it to Maria, but he hasn't noticed everyone else yet. Mask completely visible for once]

[His head whips round as soon as he hears the sound, and he pulls his knife out, moving to protect Nena before he even sees what's causing the noise.]

What the--

[His eyes widen when he sees it's Cross. They widen further when he sees what's left of his clothes.]

Fuck dad, there are some things that I just don't need to see.

[ turns around with a gasp, then pushes herself past Michael and flings herself at Cross ]

You're alive, you really are!

[is almost in too much shock and relief to move]

You're alive.

[Looking down at the loli that is currently clinging onto him. Putting a hand on Nena's head]

Yeah, of course I'm alive.

[crosses his arms over his chest looking very annoyed]

What do you mean 'Yeah, of course I'm alive'? You led everyone to believe you were dead, asshole.

Yeah, exactly! You made everyone believe you were dead, asshole!

[ but not letting go :| ]

You're an idiot! A jerk! You made me think-

[bites her lip and turns to face the wall behind her, crossing her arms and standing as straight as a stone]

[Do you want a hug, Haruhi? Pets her too]

That was the intention; if they think I'm dead, that means that they can go back and fight the front lines.

[was about to open his mouth to argue that some more, but he grudgingly admits to himself that Cross has a point. He still very annoyed though.]

This could have all been avoided, you dickhead, if you had just told us what the fuck you were doing. Then we wouldn't have been sitting around twiddling our fucking thumbs, wondering if you were alive or not.

And we weren't sitting around anyway, we were going to come after you! So see, you should have just told us because we could have been killed and you would have been sorry!

[tenses up at the petting]

You shouldn't be such an idiot, if you do things like that people are going to come after you.

Heh. She would have liked you. [sounding a little drowsy, man is he exhausted. And, his suit is drenched in his own blood.]

[He rolls his eyes at Cross.]

And once again, you completely avoid giving us a fucking answer.

[only just taking notice of the blood.]

What the fuck? Please tell me that all of that's not your blood.

[ finally lets go; she's got blood smeared on her now but doesn't particularly seem to notice ]

It can't be, right? You're back so you're fine!

[punches a fist at his chest]

Don't pull that crap again, you idiot.

[and now have a hug]

Yes'm. I need to bathe, blood is so unfashionable.
