RL with Mikaela: the 'Tieria's a Dick' club

Nena was sat at the table, chin in her hands, staring at the cake.

He must have snuck in last night somehow and left it there. It didn't seem like the kind of thing someone who would pull a dick move like leaving right on your birthday would do. And plus, she was pretty sure he didn't even like her.

It was pink, and had pink writing, and some kind of sparkling sprinkles on it. It was exactly the sort of cake Nena would have wanted, if she'd gotten one herself. It even had strawberry ice cream in.

But he didn't even like her.

And so she sat there, confused and upset and angry, glaring at the cake as if she was going to set it on fire with her eyes.

"Magic is totally cheating," Mikaela agreed. "If you can't do it with your own two hands, it doesn't count." She took one last look--not that it meant much, since she had no idea what most of the stuff in there was. She stepped back when Nena closed him up beaming. "Very cool. I dunno if I coulda figured out how to make the antigrav thingy work."

Mikaela snickered. "Oh, yeah, definitely," she said. "And I'm better with, like. Big stuff. Engines and transmissions and things, not little electronics like that."

She stepped back to the table, leaning against it and bracing her hands against the edge. "What, like, can he do, anyway?"

"Whoa," Mikaela breathed, looking suitably awestruck at the descriptions. She looked down at Haro with new respect on her face; she'd had no idea the little 'bot could do so much. "Oh man, that sounds really complicated," she admitted with a laugh. "Technical stuff like that goes over my head half the time."

She laughed again at that last. "Oh man, did she? On purpose, or was it an accident?"

"Aww," Mikaela said with a frown. "Poor guy. He's okay, though, right?" He seemed okay, but she'd never met this Haro before now, so how would she know?

"Oh, man, could you?" she asked, looking up quickly from the reactivated Haro to Nena. She nodded quickly, her expression going determined. "I'd really like that, I don't think the army dudes would show it to me, even if I asked nice."

Mikaela couldn't help but giggle. "Well, that's good!" she chirped, then followed Nena into the living room. "Okay," she said with a nod, looking around while (she thought) Nena was setting Haro up to broadcast through the TV. It was kind of weird to be in this house and know that a couple months ago it would've been A Teacher's House, but she wasn't in school anymore. Plus, Cross didn't even seem to be around right now; there was no reason to feel odd.

Finally, she flopped down on the couch, crossing her legs and watching Nena's turned back curiously.

Mikaela leaned forward, watching the footage intently. Her lips pursed in a frown, brows drawing. "Shit," she murmured, sitting back on the couch and crossing her arms over her chest. "Like he just disappeared... Poofed outta there, or something." She'd never seen anything like it.

Mikaela frowned, tapping the fingers of one hand against her arm thoughtfully. "No, as far as I know, he doesn't," she muttered, though she wasn't willing to discount that he'd been keeping secrets from her, especially not right now.

"Maybe he had help...?" she mused. "I mean, he might not be magic, but there's plenty of people on the comm who are."

[identity profile] know-sacrifice.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah..." Mikaela said with a nod, acknowledging that it was probably true. Despite how long Tieria'd been living with her, she still didn't really know much more about him than when he'd first moved in. If Nena said he wasn't magic, he wasn't magic.

She shrugged. "Maybe he was that desperate?" she suggested. It made her frown, though--he couldn't be desperate to get away from here, from her, could he? No, that couldn't be it. "Or maybe he has friends we didn't know about, or something..."

"That you guys would all go together?" Mikaela finished softly. "What would be the, like, point of all the secrecy, right...?"

[identity profile] know-sacrifice.livejournal.com 2009-08-09 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That made her scowl. "I don't think he's that ruthless." she hoped.

"Whoever taught you guys that was a jackass," Mikaela said frankly. "That's how friggin' Decepticons think, and it's bullshit."

Mikaela drew her legs up on the couch and wrapped her arms around them, resting her chin on her knees and watching Nena.

"I don't know...don't know what it's like, to think like that," she admitted quietly, realizing after the bang from the remote's impact made her jump that Nena wasn't going to say anything further. "I mean, I've never had to...to fight, or anything, except the cops that one time when I was a kid and then...the 'Cons. And it's pretty obvious when they're around, y'know? Can't really mistake them for, like, people."v
